Larry L. Adams, MD

Dr. Larry Adams completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Chemistry, in 1968 at UNC Chapel Hill.  His medical degree was also completed at UNC Chapel Hill in 1972.  Dr. Adams internships included OB/GYN and Radiation Oncology at UNC Healthcare Systems from 1972 to 1974.  His Radiology residency was also fulfilled at UNC Healthcare Systems 1973 to 1977.  Dr. Adams has been a practicing Radiologist in eastern NC since 1977, joining Coastal Radiology in 2011.


A. James Beyer, III, MD

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Dr. Beyer graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Duke University in 1989. He continued his studies at the University of North Carolina Medical School where he received his Medical degree in 1993. He was a resident in the Department of Surgery from 1993 to 1997 and a resident in the Department of Radiology from 1997 to 2001, both at Kansas University Medical Center. He was named Chief Resident in Radiology his final year. After completing a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at UNC in 2002, he moved to eastern North Carolina and joined Coastal Radiology.

S. Joseph Buff, MD

Born in Lincolnton, NC, Dr. Buff graduated with High Honors from North Carolina State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education at Duke University Medical School where he received his Medical degree in 1978. After completing his residency in radiology at Duke University Medical Center in 1982, he moved to eastern North Carolina and joined Coastal Radiology.

W. Chris Corey, DO

Joining us from Burlington, Vermont, Dr. Corey graduated with Honors from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1995. He attended Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. He then entered the Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Diagnostic Residency Program where he completed his residency in 2005. Dr. Corey was commissioned as a Major in the United States Army Reserves and has received many honors. He completed his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology in 2006 at Duke University Hospital. Dr. Corey is an associate of Coastal Radiology specializing in osteopathic and vascular/interventional radiology.

Elizabeth G. D’Angelo, MD

Dr. D’Angelo graduated as valedictorian from Salisbury State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry where she was also a varsity swimmer and was awarded the Athletic Department Student Athlete Award for Academic Achievement. In 1991, she received her Medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. She completed her internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in 1992 and her Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in 1996. In 1997, she completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Dr. D’Angelo specializes in Neuroradiology and Pain Management.

James E. Drake, MD

Dr. Drake completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Chemistry, in 1964 at UNC Chapel Hill.  He continued his education at UNC Chapel Hill earning his medical degree in 1968.  Dr. Drake fulfilled his residency at the Medical College of Georgia hospitals in Augusta, GA from 1968 to 1973.  His residencies included both Internal Medicine and Radiology.  Since returning to NC in 1975, Dr. Drake has been a Radiologist in the Coastal Carolina region joining Coastal Radiology in 2011.

Catherine J. Everett, MD

Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Everett graduated summa cum laude in 1972 from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1976 from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at North Carolina Memorial Hospital. Her special interests are breast imaging and musculoskeletal imaging. Dr. Everett has been a member of Coastal Radiology since 1980.

Christopher W. Flye, MD

Dr. Flye graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 1991. In 1993, he earned his MS in Biology at UNC. He received his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1998. After a transitional internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center, he completed his Radiology residency at UNC Medical Center. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the University of Maryland.

Donald C. Jackson, MD

In 1954, Dr. Jackson qualified in medicine in Sheffield, England. Working for the National Health Service until 1964, he obtained his board exam in internal medicine and then radiology. By exam, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Radiology. In 1964, he moved to Winnipeg, Canada, where he worked with the University Cardiac and Vascular Team. Several years later, he moved to Durham, where he was co-director of Cardiovascular Radiology and special procedures at Duke University Hospital. He also co-authored a pioneering and highly regarded angiography book. Dr. Jackson settled in New Bern and Morehead City in 1980.

Jason Leymeister, RRA

Jason Leymeister was an undergraduate at Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania, graduating 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Radiology. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a post graduate. In 2007, he graduated as a Registered Radiologist Assistant. He trained at both UNC Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center.

James C. Lorentzen, MD

Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Dr. Lorentzen graduated from Baylor University in 1979 and received his Medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1983. He also completed an internal medicine residency there in 1986. After six years practicing general internal medicine at Oklahoma City Clinic, he went back to residency and completed his radiology residency at University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 1996.

Stephen N. Sides, MD

Dr. Sides attended East Carolina University and graduated in 1987 with a Psychology degree and a minor in Chemistry. He continued on at East Carolina University School of Medicine where he earned his Medical degree. From 1991 to 1995, he completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Missouri St. Luke’s Hospital. After two years with Albemarle Radiology, Dr. Sides did an Interventional Radiology fellowship at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Timothy C. Sloan, MD

Dr. Sloan earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-medicine from Davidson College. He earned his veterinary medical degree from North Carolina State University. He graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Sloan completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology.

Thomas W. Stohrer, MD

Born in Harvey, Illinois, Dr. Stohrer graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1983. He received his Medical degree with honors from the University of Illinois in 1987. His Residency in Radiology was done at the Medical University of South Carolina from the years 1987 to 1989.

Lance Templin, RT(R) (ARRT), RPA(CBRPA)

Lance Templin graduated from the West Park Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in 1996. He worked as a radiographer specializing in diagnostic and interventional radiography. He then attended Weber State University in Utah, graduating with a degree as a Radiology Practitioner Assistant in 2004.

Wayne Wells, RPA

Graduating in 1979, Wayne is a Registered Radiologic Technologist with an additional certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology. He completed his training and board certification in 2006 as a Radiologist Practitioner Assistant at Weber State University in Utah.

Garret P. Young, MD

Dr. Young attended the University of North Carolina and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. He then attended East Carolina University School of Medicine where he received his Medical degree in 1989. Following a general surgery internship and research fellowship with Bowman Gray School of Medicine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, he completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in 1995 and in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996.
